With a busy week behind me complete with rescue divers being certified and all sorts of other fun stuff, this week has been rather mellow. I started off the week getting some holiday shopping done and was stoked to get our friends Tiffany and Jed out divng. These two were visiting Oahu from Utah and were really looking forward to some killer Hawaii scuba diving!
Also along with us for the adventure was Courtlin (Former Kaimana Divers Rescue Allstar), Jay (starting his training for his Advanced Cert) and his sidekick Casey. All three of these guys are SOLID divers….. too bad I couldn’t have joined you guys as my flu was not gonna help me on this Wednesday. Great dives though and big thanks to Honey for taking my guys out. She showed em the New Barge and then did a nice long dive at Fantasy Reef. Thanks so much for coming out today everyone….. sorry I couldn’t make it!
Yesterday it was my honor to meet Lisa early in the morning. This gal is a true rockstar….. She was out to try scuba for the first time and has only been here on Oahu for a month and some change! Christmas shopping???? NAH let’s go diving. I had Ski helping me out and it was great considering he is gearing up to take his Divemaster course. Lisa did great in the pool on her intro dive (clearing the mask of water just takes practice, kiddo) and then she was ready to hit the ocean. Lots of fun stuff today as we eyed a few turtles, a curious and playful octopus, a few eels and even a devil scorpionfish. Oh, I almost forgot about dolphins on the surface interval, the pin cushion stars, cornett fish and beautiful scrawled filefish! Great dives and awesome conditions aboard the Kahala Kai. Thanks again to Ski for the photos and the use of the “Dive Van” Lisa, I’ll see you next in Open Water Class.
As for me, lots of teaching next week…… taking a few days off for the Holidays though. Everyone stay safe and enjoy your friends, family and loved ones.
Aloha,
Gabe @ KD
